January 2010

We have hit 2010 running and are already busy plotting our next Pantomime – Sinbad the Sailor. We plan for this to be ready in the early summer and will be posting more details in February. We are also working on a series of sketches for a World War Two themed review commissioned by a theatre group in Spain.

Our latest sketches include the Frustrated Poet, in which a writer of verse struggles to find his muse and Getoutofmyface.com exploring the world of social networking websites!

David and Steve have been attending a Radio Comedy Sketch writing course at Citylit in London so expect a series of silly short sketches coming soon!

December 2009

We have added a new Murder Mystery to our range; Oliver with a Twist - murder with a Dickensian flavour!

As always, as the Pantomime season gets well underway, we would like to wish the many groups performing our titles this Christmas and New Year al the very best with their productions!

November 2009

This month we reached a new landmark for TLC, as we passed 3000 worldwide productions of our script titles! To date our scripts have been used in over 50 countries.

We’ve also launched 10 new card designs in our popular theatrical Americana captioned picture range. You can view the full selection on our card page.

Ducks in Trucks CalendarWe are delighted to launch our 2010 desktop calendar. This year we have moved from the world of panto and theatre into the world of the surreal! Ducks in Trucks is a very silly calendar exploring the world of heavy haulage vehicles and the aquatic fowl that drive them! Read more here!

CMK - Big Top Christmas Circus Show

The backing tracks for thecentre:mk Big Top Christmas Circus show have now been recorded. The display opens on November 6th with a grand parade which we will be helping to organise. Read more about our work with thecentre:mk on our corporate page.

In collaboration with MKTOC we appeared at the IKEA store in Milton Keynes as the 'Billy Shakespeare players', performing a series of silly Shakespearean themed sketches to customers. This was all part of the IKEA celebrations of 30 years of the Billy Bookcase.

We’ve come up with three new sketches. In the Secret Service explores an interview for MI6, Two Cops is a silly string of police related jokes, ideal for a cabaret / revue and the 2nd Amendment takes a look at our American cousin’s gun laws!

And as the pantomime season fast approaches, Steve and David are preparing to tread the boards once more. Steve appears as Gaston, the hunter in Beauty and the Beast by MKAOS in Milton Keynes, while David gets to don a frock as Dame Sarah in a production of our Dick Whittington script by the Bedford Pantomime Company.

August 2009

This month we have launched a new website in conjunction with MK Theatre of Comedy to promote an ‘Allo ‘Allo props and costumes package hire service – all you need to costume and accessorize a production of the popular stage show of the TV classic!

We are also at Sound-Board studios recording the soundtrack for thecentre:mk 2009 Christmas display.

Capt Snetterton & Guide

May 2009

We have added a couple of new short plays to the catalogue. Two Surgeons continues the theme started in the popular Two Farmers, with a string of daft medical jokes as a pair of surgeons chat while operating. The Joke Centre explores how a call centre specialising in incoming and outgoing jokes might work. More info on each on our short plays page.

April 2009

We are delighted to announce that, for the fourth year running, we will be working with thecentre:mk (Milton Keynes shopping centre) on creative ideas, scripts and soundtrack recordings for the 2009 Christmas Display. You can read more about our work in previous years on our Corporate page.

We have already had keen interest in our new pantomime Knight Fever and it is not yet published! The script is now complete and should be appearing on Lazy Bee Scripts shortly.

David Lovesy - comedy compere

We have done our bit for chaaaaarity this month supporting Comic Relief. David compered a fund raising variety show in Milton Keynes and we have donated £100 to the appeal.

David and Steve are working with Milton Keynes Theatre of Comedy with an exclusive stage adaptation premiere of the classic BBC TV comedy series Ripping Yarns (By Michael Palin and Terry Jones). Steve is directing ‘Murder at Moorstones Manor’ and performing as Captain Snetterton in ‘Across the Andes by Frog’ which David is directing. ‘The Testing of Eric Olthwaite’ is the third episode being performed. The show is being performed in Milton Keynes this July.

Meanwhile Damian has now established our international office in Vancouver, Canada. Stand by for the addition of our new Canada-centric web address!

February 2009

We are also counting down the days to when TLC goes truly international as Damian is emigrating to Vancouver (Canada) early in March. Details of our Canadian Office will be published soon!

Following a weekend at the end of January, where the three of us locked ourselves away for a dedicated writing session, we are now putting the last few finishing touches to our new panto Knight Fever! (an Arthurian themed pantomime). A tale of magic, maidens and mayhem set in the Court of Camelot. This will be submitted for publication with Lazy Bee Scripts before Easter 2009.

We have also finally made a decision on the future of Nursery Crimes - the musical, a project that has been on the cards for over two years now. After experimenting, we felt the songs detracted from the dialogue (ah, the benefit of hindsight!) so the script is being modifed and adapted into a full length comedy play. This should be ready for publication in Summer 2009. For more information please email Damian.

January 2009

Details of our new short one act / small cast version of Aladdin, originally commissioned by Thomson Holidays can be found here.

December 2008

Both Steve and David will be panto-ing this month. Steve puts on his best frock to play Dame Dolly Donut in the local MKAOS production of Snow White, while David dons piratical gear in the role of Blind Pew in the MKTOC production of Treasure Island – the panto.

As always we would like to wish everyone involved in the many different production of our scripts (in a wide range of locations: China, Europe, Canada, the USA, Australia, Ireland and of course here in the UK) this season a very merry Christmas and all the very best for 2009. Thank you for choosing our scripts for your shows!

Stocks of our 2009 Desktop Calendars are dwindling rapidly so make sure you order your copy soon to avoid missing the opportunity to own one of our designs! To make matters even more exciting the price of each calendar is now JUST £3.00!

Current Projects

Pantomimes
David is currently dragging his heels on a horror phantomime (in collaboration with local writer Mark Niel) entitled Pantostein. Maybe mentioning this to the general public will shame him into getting on with it.

If there is an underexposed pantomime you'd like to see a fresh take on then email us! David will hear your pleas...

We are also continuing to look at more off-beat pantomime concepts such as a pantomime / comedy based on the 'Big Bad Wolf' stories.

Plays

After experimenting we've realised that the songs in our musical of Nursery Crimes actually detracted from the dialogue, so we're adapting it instead into a full-length comedy play! For more information please email Damian.

Musicals
We are working on the script for a full length comedy (which will include a number of songs that form part of the plot) entitled A Tribute to Myself. For more information please email Damian.

Miscellaneous
We continue to look for more creative outlets. All in accord with our plans for World Domination! Do you have an idea we could work on? What do you feel your productions lack that we might provide a solution for? Email David with your inspirations!
